James Alexander Bond to Direct Macbeth for the Southern Shakespeare Festival May 2019

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Southern Shakespeare Company is thrilled to bring guest director James Alexander Bond to direct our 2019 FREE Shakespeare in the Park production of Macbeth.

From New York to England and regionally across America, James has directed over 200 productions, including over two thirds of Shakespeare’s canon, numerous musicals and many new works. Among his Shakespeare directing credits are The Merry Wives of Windsor for the Pearl Theatre Company in New York, Twelfth Night for Manhattan Repertory Theatre, Othello and Coriolanus for the New York Public Libraries, King Lear, The Tempest, Richard III, Henry V, Henry IV parts 1 and 2, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Measure for Measure, and Julius Caesar for Richmond Shakespeare, The Taming of the Shrew and The Comedy of Errors for the Virginia Shakespeare Festival, Romeo and Juliet, Othello, and Much Ado about Nothing for MaineStage Shakespeare, As You Like It for the Illinois Shakespeare Festival, and Macbeth for the Hollywood Boulevard Theatre.

In 2012, Mr. Bond set a personal record with five separate productions running concurrently in four different states. James has taught directing, playwriting, acting, comic improv, scene study, theatre history, musical theatre, Shakespeare, and audition technique and preparation. He has held key directing and production positions on a number of independent feature films. James holds a BFA from Ithaca College and a MFA in Directing from the University of California at Davis and is a professor of theatre at Broward College.
