Bring THE SONNET MAN
to your students
What if your students could experience Shakespeare through hip-hop?
Created and performed by Devon Glover, teaching artist, hip-hop artist, and Shakespeare educator known internationally as The Sonnet Man, the program brings Shakespeare to life by setting the Bard’s sonnets to hip-hop beats.
Through performance, discussion, and student participation, Sonnet Man makes Shakespeare’s language engaging, accessible, and relevant to today’s students.
What does a Sonnet Man classroom visit offer?
A visit from The Sonnet Man introduces students to Shakespeare and the sonnet form in an exciting and approachable way while encouraging literacy, creative thinking, self-expression, a deeper understanding of Shakespeare’s language, and greater confidence with classical text.
Devon has performed and taught at schools, regional theatres, festivals, and cultural organizations across the United States and internationally.
When is The Sonnet Man available?
2026–2027 Tallahassee Residencies
- Fall Residency: October 12–23, 2026
- Spring Residency: February 23–March 6, 2027

Bring Shakespeare Man
to your students
What if your students could meet Shakespeare himself?
Devised and performed by educator and professional actor Phil Croton, Shakespeare Man brings the Bard out of the textbook and into the classroom, giving students the opportunity to see, hear, question, and interact with Shakespeare himself.
Through lively conversation, storytelling, performance, and student participation, Shakespeare Man explores the life and times of William Shakespeare while helping students make meaningful connections to his language, characters, plays, and the world in which he wrote.
What does a Shakespeare Man classroom visit offer?
Shakespeare Man workshops make Shakespeare approachable, engaging, and fun while encouraging curiosity, critical thinking, student participation, and greater confidence with Shakespeare’s language and works.
Workshops can be customized to complement the Shakespeare play or material students are currently studying, making Shakespeare Man an engaging introduction to a new work or an interactive addition to an existing unit.
When is Shakespeare Man available?
Shakespeare Man is available year-round for in-person or virtual workshops customized to the needs of your classroom, school, or community group.

Our 50-minute, 5-cast member touring production directed by Stephen Smith is a fast-moving, high-energy original text performance of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet — the perfect accompaniment to English and Theatre curriculums!
