Our 2020 Free Shakespeare in the Park Festival will feature William Shakespeare’s
Taming of the Shrew performed by The Bardlings
Southern Shakespeare Company (SSC) is thrilled to bring our unique FREE Shakespeare in the Park Festival for its sixth year to Cascades Park, joining the ranks of the some of the best outdoor theatre productions in the Southeast region. Visitors will experience the spectacle of armored combat, wandering madrigals and enjoy the taste of medieval food during this four-day Free Shakespeare in the Park event. Each year we invite a special guest artist. Last year’s production of Macbeth featured Marc Singer in the title role and drew in close to 8,000 audience members from around the nation. In 2018 Renee O’Connor lit up the stage in Romeo & Juliet. This year, audiences will enjoy a play full of love, laughs, and mistaken idenditities as we bring one of Wiliam Shakespeare’s best comedies, Twelfth Night, to the Capital City Amphitheater stage.
Stay tuned for special announcements about our Director and 2020 headliner this year.
Our Bardlings, the junior acting troupe of the Southern Shakespeare Company, will kick off our Festival with their modern-day retelling of William Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew
