Now Hiring – Stage Manager for A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Southern Shakespeare Company seeks a Stage Manager for our upcoming immersive/environmental production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at The Tallahassee Museum. This is a unique opportunity to stage manage a Shakespearean classic in an historic, outdoor setting where the audience will journey through the environment along with the play.
Performance Dates:

April 30 – May 2, 2026

May 7 – 9, 2026
Rehearsals: Begin in March; evenings and weekends.
Responsibilities & Expectations:
The Stage Manager will be the organizational and communication hub of the production. Duties include:

Coordinating and tracking rehearsals, tech, and performances across multiple outdoor locations.

Maintaining accurate rehearsal/performance reports and communicating with the director, cast, and crew.

Running all rehearsals: calling breaks, taking blocking notes, maintaining order and schedule.

Preparing the prompt book and calling all technical/lighting/sound cues during performance.

Managing scene shifts, actor traffic, and audience flow in an environmental setting.

Leading the “backstage” team and ensuring safety and professionalism throughout the process.

Being proactive, flexible, and resourceful in an outdoor, non-traditional theatrical environment.
Qualifications:

Prior stage management experience strongly preferred.

Comfort working in outdoor/immersive settings.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Ability to problem-solve calmly under pressure.

Familiarity with Shakespeare is a plus but not required.
Compensation: This is a paid position; stipend commensurate with experience.
