The Southern Shakespeare Company, a professional non profit theater dedicated to bringing fun, accessible Shakespeare to the Big Bend region, seeks a carpenter and painter for its upcoming touring production of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) [revised] [again]. The touring set will consist of several painted flats with entrances. The role will also involve training the tour team to construct and strike the set safely.

Hires will consult and collaborate with SSC mainstage set designer and Quincy Music Theatre production manager Jack Jammer as well as SSC artistic director James Alexander Bond, presenting excellent opportunities to network with respected industry professionals. While the majority of design conversations can happen over Zoom, construction will take place at the SSC warehouse near the campus of Tallahassee Community College at 136 Progress Drive.

The first performance of Complete Works will occur at The Moon in November 29 and 30, 2023, then the show will be mounted at locations in northwest Florida and southwestern Georgia February and March 2024. Ideally, the set will be constructed early in the publicity and rehearsal process, i.e., as soon as October 2023.

Compensation is a $1000 stipend.
