Now Hiring – Props Assistant for The Tempest
Southern Shakespeare Company | Contract / Seasonal Position

The Southern Shakespeare Company is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Props Assistant to join our production team for our festival production of The Tempest. This position supports the Props Designer and design team in the creation, sourcing, organization, and maintenance of all hand and set props for the production.

Commitment begins in late January with performances February 19–22.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the build, purchase, and/or rental of props

  • Organizing and tracking all prop pieces

  • Supporting technical rehearsals and all performances

  • Presetting and maintaining props backstage

  • Running props during performances as assigned

  • Coordinating with scenery, costumes, and stage management when props overlap departments

  • Maintaining a safe, organized prop storage and backstage environment

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in props, stage management, or technical theatre preferred

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

  • Basic hand tool skills and comfort with light crafting/building

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs

Location: Tallahassee, Florida
Compensation: $250
